Thank you to our wonderful Friends of Penclawdd and our community for ALL your support
☀️Happy Half Term☀️
What a wonderful whirlwind these past four weeks have been!
From dancing in our very own school carnival to stepping back in time with the Celts, Tudors and Egyptians, the children have had a jam-packed half-term full of discovery and joy.
Our Flamingos and Sea Lions lit up the school with their fabulous carnival celebration – music, movement and colour filled the school and plenty of glitter! Meanwhile, the Polar Bears became expert Egyptologists during their exciting trip to the Egypt Centre, bringing history to life with hands-on discovery and fascinating artefacts.
The Starfish and Sharks classes travelled even further back in time with their visit to St Fagans, exploring how people lived during the Celtic and Tudor periods. The children were full of questions and wonder – it was a brilliant way to enrich their learning.
One of the most touching moments of the term was our special VE Day 80 celebration, where we invited members of our community aged 65 and over to join us in school. The children’s performances were beautiful, and it was lovely to see different generations sharing stories, songs and smiles.
With the sun making a very welcome appearance, we made the most of our outdoor spaces – from planting in the gardens to creative play and learning in the fresh air. Our Starfish class even turned into smoothie chefs with Mrs Beynon, blending up some delicious healthy treats with plenty of enthusiasm!
Penclawdd School Choir
Our fantastic school choir has begun rehearsals for their much-anticipated performance at Swansea Grand Theatre on Friday 20th June. Tickets can be purchased online via the Swansea Grand Theatre website. This annual event is a highlight for many, with staff, families and friends attending in previous years to show their support. It’s always a thoroughly enjoyable evening and a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the hard work of our choir and staff. Ticket link: here

Swansea Council: Nature conservation information/awareness
Swansea Council is backing a brilliant wildlife campaign to help protect the seals that visit our beautiful Gower coastline.
Last October, the Council passed a notice of motion to undertake a voluntary ban on plastic flying rings on council-owned beaches. Why? Because those plastic rings can pose serious risks to seals. We're proud to support the Gower Seal Group’s efforts in raising awareness and promoting seal-safe alternatives—like solid disc frisbees (even better if they’re non-
plastic!). So, this summer, before you bring out your frisbee on the beach, ask yourself:
Is my frisbee seal-safe?
• Use solid discs only
• Cut up and recycle any old flying rings
